
Damien Johnson

Damien Johnson is a Dallas, Texas native who began his dance training under Kitty Carter before attending Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and The Etkin-Atkinson School of Ballet. He furthered his education at The Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet and The School of American Ballet, the official school of The New York City Ballet.
As a professional dancer, Damien has performed with prestigious companies such as American Repertory Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, New Chamber Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, and Ballet Black in London, where he was a principal dancer for 10 seasons. Since returning to the U.S. in 2017, he has danced with Madison Ballet, The Ashley Bouder Project, and The Suzanne Farrell Ballet.
Damien began his Pilates training in 2000 at the School of American Ballet under Phoebe Higgins, a student of Romana Kryzanowska, the legendary protégé of Joseph Pilates. He later became comprehensively certified through Power Pilates NYC. His teaching style combines his creative dance movement with his classical Pilates training which offers a fun and challenging balance of functional and fluid movement.
