Healthier Halloween Treats

Halloween can definitely be scary….for your body! Sugar is flying around faster than a witch on a broom. But never fear. Here are 5 ways to enjoy Healthier Halloween Treats:

(PS- check out our Pinterest board for even more healthy holiday treats)- DS

1. Yum Earth Organics Gummy Bears, Lollipops, and Fruit Snacks

As far as candy goes, Yum Earth makes pretty good stuff. They offer tasty treats without any of those tricky ingredients like high fructose corn syrup or artificial dyes. I buy the fruit snacks in bulk at Costco, and that’s what I’ll be handing out to my little trick-or-treaters this year. These are also great to throw in lunch boxes.

2. Sunspire Sundrops

Halloween just wouldn’t be Halloween without chocolate! These chocolate drops are a healthier version of M&M’s. The real ones are bathed in artificial dyes and corn syrup - both of which are very spooky for your body! Sundrops are a great alternative.

3. Banana Ghosts and Orange Pumpkins

These are fun snacks to get into the Halloween spirit. Make the banana ghosts by cutting the fruit in half and then using mini chocolate chips for the eyes and nose. Make the orange pumpkins by simply peeling the orange and adding a small piece of celery or green pepper as the stem.

4. Homemade Chocolate Nut Butter Cups

If you love Reese’s peanut butter cups, then you must try these! They are so easy to make and SO much healthier than the store-bought version. This recipe will work with any of your favorite nut butters like peanut, almond, or Sunbutter (for a nut-free version). Feel free to leave out the shredded coconut if you don’t like it or don’t have it on hand. Make a few batches and keep them in the freezer for a quick, portion-controlled sweet treat! Check out this recipe.

5. Pumpkin Bars

The list wouldn’t be complete without something deliciously pumpkin. I love using coconut flour in baked goods. It’s low-carb, high in fiber and has an all around better nutrition profile than most other flours. These taste like little pumpkin pie bars – full of all of the warm and spicy flavors we love about fall.

I hope you enjoy indulging in these sweet treats. Have a spooktacular Halloween!
